Float Fly Site

The Lake Washington float fly site is a facility of Seattle Parks and Recreation located at 5034 Lake Washington Blvd, Seattle, WA. Also known as the Ferdnand Boat Launch, we share this facilty with paddle boards, canoes, row boats and small water craft that can be carried from the parking lot to the lake.

We have a permit from Seattle Parks and Recreation for the use of this facility. Frequently visitors may view the flying activities and ask questions about your model airplanes.

It is important that you abide by the float fly site rules to ensure your safety and the safety of other flyiers and all visitors at the site.

It is not necessary to be a member of Lake Sawyer Hawks to fly at this facility from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Thursdays, but under our Seattle Parks and Recreation agreement, you must have "Full Adult" AMA membership and sign an agreement to fly according to our float fly site rules and AMA recommended practices.

All aircraft must take off and land on the water 25 feet off the end of the pier. All aircraft must have an FAA number on or inside the aircraft. It is also recommended that your contact information is also on or inside the aircraft in case it is found.

Sign up for Dick Weaver's Float Fly Email to confirm if rain or wind cancels. Thanksgiving float fly is on Friday.

Model aircraft must not exceed 85dB sound level at 25 feet.

Model aircraft may not carry a video camera.
