Thank you for taking time to learn a little more about the Lake Sawyer Hawks RC Club.
We are a club of about 85 members and growing. The Lake Sawyer Hawks began in the year 2000 when the Boeing Hawks lost their airfield. A few members branched out to start a new club and find a place to fly.
After searching around, we discovered the old Hobart Landfill. On December 4, 2001, the Marlow Anderson R/C Airfield was officially opened. Since that day, the flying and good times have continued without pause.
Our members volunteer their time by offering flight lessons, and helping newcomers with building, assembling, and learning to fly. These efforts ensure that new pilots gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the hobby, while creating a supportive and friendly community environment.
The Lake Sawyer Hawks place strong emphasis on safety, education, and innovation. From mentoring new pilots to introducing advanced technologies, the club works hard to promote responsible flying practices. We continually monitor and manage aircraft noise levels in accordance with our site agreements, and we maintain a safe and welcoming environment through cooperation with King County and the King County Parks Departments.
Members are encouraged to serve as club officers, volunteer for appointed positions, or simply join activities they enjoy. Fresh ideas and new energy from volunteers help the club meet today’s challenges and prepare for tomorrow’s opportunities.
Opportunities abound — whether as a flight instructor, assisting with site or building maintenance, presenting technical demonstrations, or supporting club events. Our officers welcome help with special activities and day-to-day tasks that keep the club thriving.
To guide participation and make officer responsibilities clear, our Bylaws outline the primary tasks for each role. These elected and appointed positions, along with smaller volunteer roles, ensure the club runs smoothly for all members.
